Coasting to Savannah - Day 1 - St. Francisville, LA

We are going to take a trip to Savannah, GA this week with Bo and Joy Griffin and Herman Van Beek.  We will have the pleasure of riding with Allen Hanoski, Charlie Smith and Richard Swim for some of this trip.

Karen and I got up at 5AM to meet Herman by 6:30AM on our way to Crandall for breakfast.  We met up with our full group and had Jim Wright join us for breakfast.

We headed on down to Lufkin, Texas, past Lake Sam Rayburn lake and Toledo Bend lake.

We passed this pair in Louisiana,  The gent seemed very happy to see us.  He was sitting on a plastic lawn chair while they were going 65 miles an hour!

We had lunch in Leesville, LA at the Wagon Master.  Richard and I shared a bucket of peanuts.

After lunch we went through several little towns.  We caught this gentelman sitting on a bench waiting for the bus.

This was an interesting bridge.

These are flood gates on Atchafalaya River.

We crossed the Mississippi River on a ferry.  Unfortunately the state has been working on a new bridge that will replace the ferry.  We crossed the river in about 15 minutes.

Charlie seemed to like the river air.

The azaelas were in full bloom through out Louisiana.  This house was in St. Francisville.

This beautiful tree was outside the 8 Sisters Resturant.
